Life

It has been a few months since I posted anything & it's been pretty busy around here.

Jess is in the spring play "Li'l Abner" and I volunteered to be the Drama Booster Club President.

Jess is a sophomore this year & so my "baby" is pretty busy. I needed something to keep myself busy, so I started making jewelry and selling it. I have some of my jewelry set up at the salon I go to, too. I have a website where you can order my jewelry, too: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/missyjeanscreations
I'm also on FB, where I post some new creations: https://www.facebook.com/MissyJeansCreations

I recently started some crocheting and am really enjoying it. I am also interested in learning to knit & quilt.

2 weeks ago I started on Weight Watchers & an evening walking regime with my husband. We'd both like to get into shape. We are, hopefully, going to Disneyland at the end of July for a CME (continuing medical education). We took a road trip last summer and went to Vegas for 3 days and Disneyland for 2. We went back to Disneyland at the end of January for 3 days. Really nice "couples" mini-vacation! It's nice because the kids are old enough to stay alone.

Jared is 20 & living in Bellingham & going to Whatcom Community College, Kayleigh is 18 & still lives at home :), & Jess is going to be 16 in May. WOW, time sure does fly by!!

I'll try and keep a bit more updated & will load some pics of my creations.

I'm looking forward to reading Fashionably Dead by Robyn Peterman!! It was recommended by Darynda Jones, Author of the Charley Davidson series, recommended it!

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything. I didn't do so well on the diet so went back to Weight Watchers and have lost 25 lbs, so far. I have 25 to go. Took a break over the summer.

Well, a LOT has happened since last I blogged. Most know about our life changing experience. We found a cancerous tumor in Jessica's brain on 12-11-09. She had 90% of it removed on 12-15-09. Then, had 6+ weeks of rehab. She had to learn to walk, swallow, and we are still recovering. For the WHOLE scoop you can go to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessicahocson

I also lost my best friend to cancer on 5-9-11. It's been a rough couple of years, but God is good and sovereign! I've become closer with some more wonderful christian women and for that I am thankful.

Jessica

December 11, 2009 Jessica was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Seattle from Yakima Memorial. She had the 7cm by 3cm tumor removed on Tuesday December 15. She had a rough time coming out of anesthesia. Finally woke up on Wednesday, late afternoon. Her brain was working in overdrive, talking about everything under the sun. She finally slept peacefully December 19. She is still resting peacefully. She was throwing a little pink and red ball to Ashely, Dan, Uncle Chuck, Grandpa P. and me.

Weight Loss Journey

Ok, I've been trying many different weight loss projects and just can't seem to stick with it, so, I'm trying one that a friend of mine lost 108 pounds on in 9 months. I started 5/2/09 and am down 6 pounds!! I'm very excited about that! I took these pictures the day I ordered my product. (how embarrasing, UGH) jk.

I just get tired of hearing "You look great" "You don't need to lose weight" "You're beautiful". Thank you to those comments, but I can't face myself in the mirror after I get out of the shower, so I needed to do something about it. I have 29 pounds to go, and I will be a much healthier person, be able to keep up with my 3 kids (going to Boulder cave, Creation and Disneyland).

I have a Dr's appt. next Monday for a well woman check, so I'll be set there also. Starting my "new year" a little later than January, but I'm starting. Keep me in your prayers, because if I want God to get all the glory, I can't do it on my own.

Disneyland

Well, we finally made our second family trip to Disneyland! What a week! We stayed at the Paradise Pier again and we got a complimentary room upgrade to park view. So, we got to see California Adventure out of our window everyday. We hit the park every morning and pretty much closed it every night for 7 days (6 of which were full).

The kids had as much fun as mom and dad. We found out Jared's not much of a roller coaster rider (thanks 6-Flags), and that Kayleigh and Jessica are. Kayleigh and I hit California Screamin' a number of times, as did Jess. We also loved Space Mountain. One of our favorite rides is Pirates of the Caribbean.

Well, Kayleigh finally figured out how to escape from the dog pound. The kids all got into it. The had a great week themselves.

As you can see from the picture, we did some pin collecting/trading. Jared collected Pirates of the Caribbean, Kayleigh collected Nightmare before Christmas & Pooh, Jess collected Minnie Mouse, Dan collected Stitch and I collected...

MICKEY MOUSE!!!

Any way, glad to be home and sleep in our own beds. We are hopefully going back in November when Jack Skellington takes over Christmas in the Haunted Mansion!
